Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944) was a Russian-born painter and art theorist. Kandinsky had the ability of synesthesia (mixed perceptions), and he could hear colors very clearly. This effect had a major influence on his art. He even named his paintings “Improvisation” and “Construction”, as if they were not paintings but musical works.
